Last updated: 28 September 2026

Max Effort Fitness ("MEF", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website maxeffortfitness.com.au, our gym at 9 Walpole Parade, Norlane VIC 3214, and our online and social services.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.

ABN: 25 899 316 014

  • Your name, email address, phone number and postal address

  • Booking and attendance information

  • Payment information (processed by our payment providers, not stored by us)

  • Health, fitness, injury and goal information you choose to share for coaching, training or massage services

  • Emergency contact details

  • Messages you send us and your responses to surveys or forms

  • Website and device information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited

How we collect it

We collect personal information when you book a class or service, sign up for a membership or trial, fill in a form on our website, contact us by phone, email or social media, attend the gym, or interact with our website and ads.

How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide and manage your training, classes, coaching and massage services

  • Process bookings, memberships and payments

  • Keep you safe and tailor programs to your needs and goals

  • Communicate with you about your membership, bookings and relevant updates or offers

  • Improve our services, website and marketing

  • Meet our legal and insurance obligations

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel and analytics tools, to understand how the site is used and to measure and improve our advertising. These tools may collect information such as pages visited and actions taken, and may allow us and platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) to show you relevant ads.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and you can adjust ad preferences through the settings of the relevant platform.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Service providers who help us run the business, such as our website platform (Wix), payment processors, email and SMS tools, scheduling software, AI tools (see below) and analytics or advertising platforms (including Meta)

  • Our coaches and staff, so they can deliver your services

  • Professional advisers, or authorities, where required or permitted by law

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled securely.

How we use artificial intelligence (AI)

Max Effort Fitness uses commercially available AI tools (including Anthropic's Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and image and video generation tools) to help with the day-to-day running of the business. This section explains what we use AI for, what we don't use it for, and your choices.

What we use AI for:

  • Drafting social media posts, blog articles, captions and marketing content

  • Drafting member communications, such as text messages, emails, newsletters and check-ins

  • Generating ideas, research summaries and admin documents

  • Producing images and short-form video content for marketing

  • Cross-referencing booking and attendance data to identify members we should check in with

  • Helping our coaches prepare session notes, program plans and required reports (for example NDIS session reports), using the information you have shared with us for your training

What we do NOT use AI for:

  • We do not operate any chatbot or AI agent that members interact with directly

  • We do not put your payment details into any AI tool. Where health, injury or session information is used to prepare your program or a required report, we use accounts set so the provider does not use that information to train its models, and a coach reviews the result before it is used or sent. We are also moving this work onto AI systems we host ourselves, so more of your information stays under our direct control

  • We do not use AI to make automated decisions about your membership, pricing, access to services, or anything else with a legal or significant effect on you

  • We do not sell, share or licence your personal information to AI providers for the purpose of training their models

Human review: every piece of AI-assisted content or communication that reaches you is reviewed and approved by a real person at Max Effort Fitness (Bradley Lomas or Coach Liz) before it is sent, posted or published. AI is a drafting and research assistant. It is not a decision-maker.

Your choices:

  • You can ask whether a particular communication you received from us was AI-assisted, and we'll tell you honestly.

  • You can stop marketing messages at any time by replying STOP to any SMS or clicking unsubscribe on any email. This does not affect your membership, your access to classes or the service you receive.

Compliance: we follow the OAIC's October 2024 guidance on privacy and the use of commercially available AI products, and we review our AI use each year. If our use of AI changes materially, we will update this policy and let members know.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and only keep it for as long as we need it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will work to resolve it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated.
